Moving to ? Here’s a list of
Our Favorite Attractions,
Hot Spots, and Restaurants
- Sagamore Hill National Historic Site (20 Sagamore Hill Rd, Oyster Bay, NY) – No president is as synonymous with national parks as Theodore Roosevelt. Here lies his 26-room Victorian home, which sits on 95 acres of forest, near a tidal marsh and bay beach—a must-visit for patriots and history buffs. It’s not just a history hotspot; it’s also perfect for hiking, biking, and making friends while you stroll around.
- Connetquot River State Park Preserve (4090 Sunrise Hwy, Oakdale, NY) – Once considered a world-class trout fishery, it remains a favorite haunt for fly fishermen. Spanning over 3400 acres of land and water, the preserve is dedicated to protecting and nurturing game birds, fish, and wildlife. Anglers can enjoy stream trout fishing in the cool river waters, with three types of trout being raised there.
- Caumsett State Historic Park (25 Lloyd Harbor Rd, Lloyd Harbor, NY) – An adventurer’s dream, with hiking trails, fishing, bird watching, cross-country skiing, nature photography, and more—all in one place. Plus, with 3 miles of paved biking roads, you’ll need a full weekend to explore it all.
- Eisenhower Park (1899 Hempstead Tpke, East Meadow, NY) – Eisenhower Park is referred to as Nassau County’s very own “Central Park,” and it lives up to that title. Spanning 930 acres, this park is a playground for everyone, with paved trails perfect for walkers, cyclists, skaters, and joggers. Kids will love taking circus classes at I.FLY Trapeze School while parents can take to boating on the pond.
- Hamptons Festival of Music: A newcomer to the East End’s classical music scene, this festival brings together top musicians from North America’s leading orchestras for a series of world-class performances.
- Jones Beach State Park (1 Ocean Pkwy, Wantagh, NY) – Famous for its landmark water tower and popular sandy shores, Jones Beach State Park is Long Island’s crown jewel. Since the summer of 2024, NY Governor Kathy Hochul has been making it even better. She’s just rolled out a new initiative to drop the pool entry fees at Jones Beach Bathhouse (and 14 other state pools) to urge people to “get offline, get outside.” For adrenaline junkies and families, check out WildPlay Jones Beach for ziplines, aerial adventures, and a 40ft jump right next to the ocean. For green thumbs and environmentalists, pay Jones Beach Energy & Nature Center a visit.
- The Clubhouse (174 Daniels Hole Rd, East Hampton, NY): With two bars, live music, a dance floor, and huge TVs for game day, The Clubhouse has something for everyone. And for the extra restless, there’s also an arcade, bowling alley, and pickleball courts.
- Bambi’s Cafe (33 Carl Fisher Plaza, Montauk, NY): This woman-owned cafe serves up locally sourced, 100% organic food, and locally roasted coffee. With everything made from scratch (including the nut milks), you can feel good about every dollar spent here.
- Shark Bar (2167 Montauk Hwy, Montauk, NY): This beachside surf shack along Napeague’s sandy stretch serves up tiki classics—think lobster fried rice and crispy calamari. If the phrases “heaping portions,” “flip-flop friendly,” and “sandy, salty beer” make you smile, you’ve found your spot.
- Surf Lodge (183 Edgemere St, Montauk, NY): Whether you’re there for the nightlife or the accommodation, Surf Lodge delivers on all fronts. This boutique hotel and celebrity event space is a Montauk hotspot that is equal parts relaxed and rowdy.
- Montauk Lighthouse (2000 Old Montauk Hwy, Montauk, NY): Commissioned by President George Washington in 1792, the Montauk Point Lighthouse was the first lighthouse built in New York and remains the fourth-oldest working lighthouse in the country.
- Southampton Arts Center’s SummerFest Gala: This benefit gala is a staple of the Hamptons social calendar. The evening begins with a cocktail reception, followed by dishes from East End restaurants and performances by Broadway stars and a quartet from The Mannes School of Music.
