- The Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) Studio — (45 Main St, Brooklyn, New York)Architecture firm BIG relocated its New York office from the Financial District to Brooklyn’s Dumbo neighborhood. The new 50,000-square-foot space at 45 Main Street quadrupled the firm’s initial workshop size, featuring expansive digital fabrication and assembly areas with a woodworking section. The office’s interior aesthetic includes concrete floors, white-washed walls, and a private patio with views of the Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan.
- Madwell — (65 Porter Ave, Brooklyn, New York)A former 22,000-square-foot bakery in Brooklyn was transformed into an office and production studio for creative agency Madwell. The space features light grey and white trusses, masonry walls, and concrete floors, contrasted with raw wood, colorful fabrics, and vibrant art. An indoor garden, called the Solarium, connects to the kitchen and dining area, adding a touch of nature to the industrial setting.
- Etsy — (117 Adams St, Brooklyn, New York)Etsy’s Dumbo office is an IRL embodiment of its craft-centric ethos. The space has a cable-wire staircase crafted from the building’s old rooftop water tower, a nod to the brand’s love for all things handmade. The sixth floor is a creative playground, with everything from wet and dry labs to sound rooms and recording studios. Then there’s the wellness suite, complete with a mother’s room, yoga studio, quiet room, and a garden library.
- EyeSwoon — (254 36th Street, Brooklyn, New York)Athena Calderone, the founder of EyeSwoon, selected Brooklyn’s Industry City as the office for her interior design firm, drawn by its dramatic shadows and natural light. To balance the industrial space, the designer incorporated vintage and antique pieces, including a bronze candlestick, a floor lamp, a barrel chair, stools, and a wood screen, all sourced from Manhattan auctions and Brooklyn flea markets.
- Nitehawk — (136 Metropolitan Ave, Brooklyn, New York)After outgrowing their original space above their first Williamsburg moviehouse, the Nitehawk Cinema team collaborated with Thread Collective to renovate their new 1,800-square-foot office. The design integrates cinema culture, featuring a wall of VHS tapes as a focal point at the entrance and decor inspired by movie memorabilia throughout the office.
- Huge Agency — (1 Dock 72 Wy, Brooklyn, New York)Originally founded in Dumbo, global experience agency Huge relocated its headquarters to Dock 72 in Brooklyn’s Navy Yard. Designed with Gensler, the workspace offers a “choose your own adventure” approach with spaces including an espresso bar, event space, VR zone, Blackbox theater, telepresence rooms, and a digital experience exhibition—all with waterfront views.
- Kickstarter — (58 Kent St, Brooklyn, New York)Kickstarter’s 29,000-square-foot office is located in Greenpoint’s historic pencil factory district, featuring a roof garden, movie theater, gallery, library, and office spaces. In 2023, the office was announced to transition into the Lighthouse, a members-only club for content creators.
